Help & questions

If your question is not here, email hello@parsy.fyi — that address reaches a person, not a queue. We answer within a few business days.

Getting started

Which stores does Parsy work with?

Any of them. Parsy reads the receipt itself, so there are no store integrations to break and nothing to connect. If a shop prints a receipt, Parsy can read it.

What's my forwarding address?

Every household gets a unique address ending in @receipts.parsy.fyi. You will find yours in the app under Settings, and on your account page here. Forward an e-receipt to it and Parsy reads it the same way it reads a photo. Anything sent to it that is not a receipt is ignored, and Parsy never connects to your email account.

Why is Parsy only available in the United States?

Parsy is offered to individual consumers in the United States, and the service is hosted here. Prices, tax handling and the privacy laws we are built around are all US-specific. Receipts you collect abroad still work — they are converted at the purchase-date rate and marked as converted.

Why do I have to be 18?

The Services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. Receipts can reveal a great deal about a household, and we would rather not hold that for minors at all.

iOS or Android?

Both, from one codebase. You can create your account on this website first; it works the moment you install the app, forwarding address and all.

Scanning & accuracy

How accurate is the reading?

Good enough that most receipts need no attention at all, and honest enough to tell you when it is not sure. Anything Parsy guessed is flagged for review, and fixing a line takes one tap — the correction sticks to that product from then on. Faded thermal paper and unusual store abbreviations are where it struggles most.

How does Parsy handle restaurant receipts?

Every line on a restaurant or coffee-shop check is categorised as Restaurants or Coffee — including the drinks. Restaurant prices carry a markup, so keeping them out of your grocery price history is what keeps that history honest. The rule flips back inside stores: the prepared-food counter at a supermarket counts as Deli, and packaged items there are categorised as what they are — with one deliberate exception: a brewed coffee counts as Coffee wherever you buy it, so the fuel-station cup and the café cappuccino land in the same number. It works at independents exactly as well as chains, because Parsy reads the paper — there is no menu database to be missing from. On any plan, the check sits in your ledger with the venue, the items and the total, and Eating out gets a monthly total like every category; paid plans add the derived view — eating out as a share of your food spending, how often, your average check, and which places take most of it.

Does Parsy work for gas receipts?

Yes — and they are some of the best receipts Parsy reads, because US pumps are required to print the gallons and the price per gallon. On any plan, a fill-up lands in your ledger with the station, the gallons and what you paid. Paid plans turn those fills into a cost-per-gallon history by station, and show you where your fills run cheapest. If you buy snacks at the pump, they are categorised as what they are — only the fuel line is Gas.

What happens to my receipt photos?

They are stored so you can open the original next to the parsed items, and they are visible to your household only. To read them, the image is sent to our AI providers — Google Gemini through Google Cloud's Vertex AI as the primary reader, with Anthropic's Claude, Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence and Google Cloud Vision as fallbacks when a receipt needs a second read — solely for that purpose, under written contract.

If you erase your account as the last member of your household, receipt images are permanently deleted, every stored version of them, within a few hours. The full sequence is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Is there a limit on how much I can scan?

Yes. Individual is 100 receipts every 7 days and Household is 200, shared across everyone in it. Free is 30 every 7 days — the same in your first week as in your fiftieth. The cap exists to stop automated abuse rather than to meter normal shopping — if a real household reaches it, email hello@parsy.fyi.

Can Parsy read a receipt in another language or currency?

Currencies, yes: a foreign receipt is stored in the currency it was printed in and converted at the purchase-date rate wherever it is added to a total, and anything converted is labelled as converted. Item names are read as printed, so a receipt in another language will produce items in that language.

When will I see typical local prices?

Once there is enough data to show one honestly. A cross-household figure appears only after a product has been bought at least 10 times across at least 3 different households, and health-related categories are never included. Below that you see nothing rather than a partial number. Your own price history across the stores you shop is separate and starts with your second receipt.

Household

How does household sharing work?

A paid household plan may include up to 6 members who share one household ledger. All members see the same receipts, items and insights, and each receipt is attributed to the member who scanned it — which means members of the same household can see one another's purchases. The owner can invite and remove members, rename the household, transfer ownership and manage the subscription, but cannot delete another member's account or personal data. Sharing requires the Household plan; the Individual plan is one person.

What is the difference between leaving a household and deleting my account?

Leaving is not erasing, and the privacy consequences differ. If you leave a household, or are removed by its owner, you are moved to your own new, empty household. Nothing of yours is deleted: the receipts you scanned remain part of your former household's shared ledger, attributed anonymously rather than to you by name.

If you erase your account and you are not the last member, your personal account record — email, name, login credentials and device tokens — is permanently deleted and your attribution on past receipts is anonymised; the household's shared history stays with the members who remain. If you are the last member, erasing your account erases the household too.

How long does an invitation last?

An invitation expires 14 days after it is sent if it is not accepted. The owner can revoke it before then, or send a new one, which starts a new 14-day period. Whether an invitation is accepted, revoked or left to expire, we hard-delete the invitee's email address within 30 days of expiry or revocation.

Billing

How do I cancel?

It depends who took the money, and both the app and your account page tell you which it was.

  • Bought on this website: cancel from your account page, where subscriptions are processed by Stripe.
  • Bought in the iPhone app: cancel in your App Store subscription settings.
  • Bought in the Android app: cancel in your Google Play subscription settings.

Your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term, and there is no further charge. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel.

What happens to my subscription if I delete my account?

A subscription purchased on this website is cancelled automatically and will not renew. Android purchasing is not available yet; when it arrives, a Google Play subscription will be cancelled automatically too, as our Terms say. A subscription purchased through the Apple App Store can be cancelled only through your Apple account — if you delete your Parsy account while an Apple subscription is active, we will show you where to cancel it. It is worth doing that first.

Do you offer refunds?

Payments, refunds and cancellations are handled by whoever took the money — Apple, Google or Stripe — under their own policies. Ask us at hello@parsy.fyi and we will point you to the right one.

Privacy & data

Do you sell my data?

No. We have not sold or shared — as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including disclosures for cross-context behavioural advertising — any personal information, including consumer health data, in the preceding twelve months, and we do not intend to. The vendors we use process your information as service providers under written contracts; that is not a sale or a share.

What about health-related purchases?

Receipts can incidentally reveal health information — over-the-counter medication, vitamins, feminine care, baby care. In Washington, and any other state with a similar law, we treat purchases of pain relief, vitamins, feminine care, baby care and skincare as consumer health data as a matter of policy. We do not sell consumer health data, and those categories are excluded from all cross-user analytics and aggregation, so they never appear in a typical-price figure shown to anyone else.

Does Parsy know where I live?

We do not collect device GPS location and do not request the location permission. We do record the country on your account — set from your device's region and changeable in Settings — for localisation and currency. Receipts carry store names and addresses, so a long history could suggest your general area; we never use that to build a location profile, and cross-household statistics contain no account, household or receipt identifiers.

Does the app track me? Does this website?

This website: no advertising SDKs, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics. These marketing pages set no cookies at all and make no third-party request — even the fonts are served from this domain. Signing in sets two cookies, both needed to keep you signed in.

The app: it records first-party product-usage events — that a scan completed, for example — against an internal account identifier, never your receipt images, receipt contents or purchase details. The Privacy Policy names every vendor involved, our product-analytics provider included.

Can I get a copy of my data, or delete everything?

Yes to both, free, from your account page or the app. Export is a ZIP holding a spreadsheet of your receipts and a file of your account details, and receipt photos are not included in it yet. Deletion is described step by step before you confirm anything, and it cannot be undone. You can also email legal@parsy.fyi to exercise any privacy right, including access, correction and appeal.

Still stuck?

Email hello@parsy.fyi for anything at all. For a data-rights request, the arbitration opt-out or a legal notice, use legal@parsy.fyi — it is the address our Privacy Policy and Terms name, and using it puts your request where those documents promise it will be read. Either way there is no contact form, because a form would be a new place your message lives and this way you keep a copy of what you sent.
